    Feeds great and great accuracy,but…
This load fed perfectly and was accurate in both my 9mm Makarov pistols – a FEG PA-63 and a Polish P-64 – as I have come to expect from Hornady. The big downside for me is that this load seems to have replaced the old 95 gr. XTP load, which I loved. That load fed very well, opened up more quickly, was at least as accurate, and was more reasonably-priced. With the XTP load, dispatching pests, such as possums, skunks, and raccoons, it was amazing that it would expand so dramatically in a critter with little body mass. Not everyone wants or needs a bullet that is designed to penetrate heavy winter clothing, year around. Bring the XTP load back, Hornady, there is a need for both.

    Great ammunition
I have owned a MAKAROV for some time and had been using a different manufacturers ammunition FMJ I tried the Hornady critical Defense ammunition not at a range but on some property where we used old and new 2×4″ lumber RIPPED IT UP !!! Cleaned my weapon it appears to be very clean burning as compared to the brand I had been using the Hornady fed great!! For self defense I’m sold on it GREAT HOME DEFENSE AMMUNITION HIGHLY RECOMMEND

    Reliable Ammo
Shot a box of these in my FEG PA63 today to check reliability before using it for CW carry. All rounds loaded/fired/extracted. 100% reliable function. Recoil was extremely mild, less than 93 grain ball ammo. Pretty accurate too when I did my part correctly. I will buy more.

  4. Enrique Lutz

    light loaded
the ammunition functions fine in my P64 but is very light loaded even by 9×18 standard. I fired a few rounds over the chronograph and got 900fps on average. for comparison I fired some TulAmmo 9×18 FMJ over the chronograph and got an average of 950fps. considering TulAmmo doesn’t exactly load their cheap FMJ ammunition very hot id say the Hornady is VERY light

great ammo for defense. EDC round of choice for makarov
bought this for my FEG PA63. runs flawless. cycles every time. fires every time. decent accuracy for the PA63. wasn’t really testing for groups. highly recommend this for anyone using a makarov for defense. only thing i keep in mine

I haven’t fired 10 thousand rounds of this ammo ,but I’ve fired enough to know that it is reliable ,feeds in different platforms ,and expands reliably. Shot over a chronograph it achieves the advertised velocity. There’s plenty of tests you can watch on YouTube . My own testing has convinced me that this is effective ammo , and it’s my carry ammo. Here’s pics of a round that hit a water jug.

  7. Harvey

Every day CCW ammo. Hundreds of rounds and not one failure. if it hurts to buy it, it’s gonna be good.

  8. Lincoln

This ammunition is as superior a defensive ammo that can be found! It is reliable and consistently dependable every time I test shoot it on the range—no jams or stovepipes! There are only a few manufacturer’s defensive ammunition product lines I will buy and this ammunition is one my short list! And I want to add that they routinely offers this ammunition at the price point that grabs my attention.

  9. Ozake

This round is a perfect match for the P320. It’s clean burning propellant makes cleaning this pistol a breeze. The V-Crown bullet is accurate and expands dependably. What more can one ask of a pistol/ammunition mating?

  10. David

I have consistently found this ammunition to always shoots reliably without any jams or misfires. It is clean shooting whether firing FMJ or JHP on a range. Whether 115 or 124 grain you will not be disappointed. The Sig Sauer name speaks quality. I use 124 grain as my defense load.
