I love this scope. It is heavy at around 17 oz but the fit, finish, and glass quality is awesome.
It is a bit pricey for a 1-4x, but the quality is much better than the primary arms and vortex viper
that I have compared it to. This scope reminds me so much of the Vortex HD II Razor in terms of reticle
and daylight bright led 1/2 moa dot in the center of the cross hairs.
The field of view is huge and eye relief is on par at around 3 1/2″ for me. I paired this up with an aero precision for a lightweight AR15 setup. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a quality scope that is under $600 that wants a BDC reticle that is daylight bright led center dot.

One more thing, It seems like a true 1x and you can target acquisition with both eyes open without any problems.

I have a severe astigmatism and cannot use dot scopes, so I decided to buy this scope thinking that the illuminated dot was etched on a prism instead of being projected on the lens like a dot scope. Unfortunately, the scope uses the same mechanism as a dot scope in projecting the dot on the cross hair. This results in a distorted illuminated dot if you have a astigmatism. I contacted Steiner and they confirmed that this scope will not work with those who have astigmatism.

This scope is designed to sight it in and then forget it! This scope is not designed to adjust holdovers with the turrets, the BDC reticle is used for this. The turrets are mushy, and because the graduations are so cluttered, its difficult to align precisely with the indicator mark on the tube which a about .128 inch from the both the windage and elevation turrets.

By default, the scope is set up to turn of the reticle after three hours of continuous use. This behavior can be disabled.

The glass and field of view is excellent for a scope in this price range.
    Pros:
    Great field of view
    exellent price
    exellent glass
    Cons:
    mushy turrets
    Turrets graduations too small
illuminated dot is distorted if you have a astigmatism

Top quality, wouldn’t expect anything less from this company, a lil pricey but I think quality justified price,mu Hunting buddy has one and talked me into getting one, very clear glass, can see all the way to other side of farm that’s 400 yards

This is the second one of these scopes that I have purchased, the 1st one was black. Scope are listed as FDE but it is actually “Coyote Brown”, which is actually marked on the end of the box with the description of the scope.

I put this on my new Windham AR 9mm, and it works really nice. It adds a bit of weight and size, but the speed of acquisition with the 1X makes it worth it. I usually go with a fixed 4X, which I have on most of my rifles since the mid 1970s. My favorite

They did it right and built this scope around the glass. Glass is clear and crisp, reticle is simple and easy to use (.223 zero at 200 yards use the lower hash marks for BDC). The scope body itself is robust and well built, perhaps a little bit on the heavy side for a small 4x scope. Biggest gripe is with un-tactile dials and the non-locking diopter. While zeroing I had no feedback from the dials when making adjustments, very mushy clicks, had to get a visual reading for every adjustment. Has a good range of day, night and NV brightness settings. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good entry-level LPVO.

I run this lpvo on a 12.5 inch 5.56 upper, i have come to really like lpvos and i heard alot of good things with this one, i decided to run the 1-4 on my 12.5 because i figured being a 12.5 im not ever going to shoot it past 300 yards but its still nice having the magnification, with all that being said i dont know if id ever buy another 1-4, im not bashing this optic by any means, the glass is super clear the quality is top notch and i really like the illuminated dot in the middle but looking back, in my opinion running a lpvo is nice when its a 1-6 or a 1-8, at 4 power you’re better off running a red dot with a magnifier, so do i recommend this optic? Yes if your specifically wanting a 1-4 lpvo and no if you just want an lpvo, get the benefits of a higher power lpvo but thats just my opinion

By far, the best scope I have ever used. I own about 7 different scopes ranging from 5-25×50 vortex all the way down to the 1-4×24 Steiner. It has the best eye relief I have ever seen. Not to mention that they really care about their customers. I ordered one from them a while back and just by the luck of things, the package got delivered while I was away from home. Someone ended up stealing it right off my front porch. I called them up and didn’t hesitate to send me a brand new one free of charge. I will definitely be buying more products from Steiner. I’m in love with them.lol

  9. Mark

I cannot think of a better optic for the price. The glass is outstanding, eye box is very forgiving, reticle is simple and accurate. At 1X it’s almost as fast a redot and it’s day light bright.
    Pros:
    Price and warranty
    Eye releaf
    look & feel
    clear & bright image
    Cons:
    None

I was looking at different scopes and accidentally came across this one at Shooters world super clear clean buying a 5×25 for my Remington 700 Steiner is the way to go. I’ll stick with Optics planet because I saved over 200$ easily on it!!!

  11. Mark

This is an amazing LPVO. I have always wanted one but didnt want to break the bank. They had this on sale for a lot less than every other retailer. As usual I received it in less than a week. Best “budget” scope on the market. Blows the Vortex Strike Eagle away by a mile..get one you wont regret it.

  12. Raymond

Love this little scope. The clicks are VERY soft, tgats the only con I think. I put it on a 16″ Remington 308 for a handy short range gun & it is perfect for this use. Zeroed at 200m with Lapua 123gr fmjs the first hashmark below the crosshairs was dead on at 300m. I haven’t gone farter than that yet. Overall fantastic midrange scope, highly recommend.

  13. iVreks

I did a lot of research on the LPVO I was going to purchase and I’m happy with my choice. I don’t have anything to compare it to but I know I’m happy with what I purchased, very well made and clear glass with a big fov. I love the reticle and the dot is very bright and the controls are very easy to control and understand. The only con I have is that it tops off at 4x but the clarity of the glass more than makes up for the only con that was minor in my decision to purchase.

  14. Richard Futrell

Excellent glass, well built, lifetime warranty and day light bright illumination. Don’t sacrifice this level of quality just because one at a similar price point has higher magnification. I have used this on 2 different AR uppers using a qd mount. The adjustments are spot on and repeatable. Trusted this as my primary optic for this deer season.

  15. Peter

Great for short and medium range shooting for a dedicated close quarters combat weapon in 300BO. Red dot stands out in all lighting situations. Price is right and features are easy to understand. Not too heavy and useful for intended purpose..

Finally pulled the trigger on + $500 scope, will to be honest barely. I have a Burris MTAC on another setup and have been experiencing reticle illumination issue. Couldn’t be happier with my choice. Great glass and field of vision.

Be advised, I almost never write reviews on products but feel compelled to share my enthusiasm for the Steiner. I purchased this optic in Spring of 2021 to place on a 14.5 inch build I use for training and home defense. This is my first LPV and there are a number of reasons I went with this piece of glass.

    1. Value: Purchased on sale with included throw lever and military discount for $500. Don’t get me wrong, Vortex and Primary Arms offers some great “Budget” optics for a little under this price-point, but both pale in comparison in every department aside from weight.
    2. Glass clarity. The edge to edge clarity is superb, even when comparing this optic to others 2-3X the cost. This is German glass. This is only minor “Bubble” effect at 1X and very close to true 1X.
    3. Durability: Granted, I have not done the Aaron Cowen drop test or frozen it in a block of ice, but based on the track record and reviews/testing and marketing of the Steiner, I would confidently describe this optic as “Duty Grade” and would confidently put this atop of any patrol rifle or work gun. It feels very robust with a high quality finish that has shown little to no wear.
    4. Form Factor: Right where is needs to be in terms of weight (17oz) for a duty grade 1-4X. This Optic is lighter than most other 1-6X offerings. It also has a discrete and professional appearance. It doesn’t shout range toy… Tacticool…LARP trophy.

Just received this scope & rings today. My first optic, but it matches the quality of my Schmidt& Bender & March scopes. It’s solid & easy to adjust & illuminated, The optics are crystal clear without any distortion or defects. The rings are top quality with built in level. Only downside is no lens covers & the 2 mm wrench was not included, even though Manuel said it was.
