Hornady Black 6.5 Creedmoor

Academy Sports sells Hornady Black 6.5 Creedmoor, yet Hornady’s website doesn’t have 6.5 Creedmoor listed as an available caliber for this round. Does anyone have a review of Hornady Black?

Shooters worldwide can’t get enough of the 6.5 Hornady black, and we’re pretty proud of it, too! Dependent on the specific ammo line, the 6.5 Creedmoor is topped with the most appropriate Hornady bullet for the application, including the ELD-X, SST, GMX, InterLock, V-Max or ELD Match.

All Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition promises superior lot-to-lot consistency with extremely tight tolerances and strict quality control. But the 6.5 Creedmoor is designed to live up to company founder J.W. Hornady’s original goal of “Ten bullets through one hole.” Buy 20 Rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor Ammo by Barnes VOR-TX – 120gr online.

So, it has a 140gr BTHP match bullet with a B.C. of .580. It’s listed on the Hornady site. It’s listed on the Hornady site. Click to expand. They show the “Black” line but unfortunately NOT in the 6.5 Creedmoor, which is the ‘Title Caliber” of this thread. 6.5 Grendel but no Creed.

I recently purchased a buck shotgun. I couldn’t be happier. The gun was properly packed, clean and even arrived early. This first purchase has made me a happy customer and I will gladly be making purchases from them from now on. Thank you so much.

Great product and fast ship and thank you guys appreciate it we’ll definitely do business with you again

I have a 6 Creed and have been using the 87g V-Max with good results, so when Hornady released the 95g V-max for the 6.5 Creed, I was very interested as I had just purchased a 6.5 the week before the release. The 6.5 ammo was rated at 3300 fps out of a 24″ test barrel, surpassing the 3210 fps rating for the 6mm ammo (24″ test barrel). So, pushing a heavier bullet faster out of basically the same cartridge? Hmm. I was curious.

Unless you buy a case, i doubt you will get same lot but, Hornady is known for good Lot to Lot consistency. Good luck and good shooting

  5. Rodney

Fast shipping great quantity for such a small price. can’t wait to shoot some rounds

I’ve been dialing in my Creedmoor with various rounds in an effort to see what rounds perform the best, with consistent results. I’m pushing these rounds through a 22″ H-Bar, w/ 1:8 twist and sighted in with Vortex High Power glass. To say that I am pleased with the results ranging out to 1,000 yards, is an understatement. Due to limited supply, I don’t have the resources or supply to take it out much further than that. However, the Varmint Express is not only on the top of my list, it has earned a spot among the top 3 performers through my rifle. Also, at the top of my list is the Hornady Match, 140gr, ELD and the Hornady Outfitter, 120gr, GMX. Despite their best efforts and current offerings, Winchester and Federal both have fallen behind the times. This of course is my humble opinion, I’d love to hear yours.

Makes me 6.5 cm a great predator

  10. Mark

This stuff is incredible. I can’t wait to see what it does to the coyotes we’re having heck with. I highly recommend this round

  11. Vandan

Great Ammo…. Stupid accurate! I’ll be buying again!

  12. Cain

A rifle ammo I have been searching for for a few months. The price was listed well below any other source. The dealer got the rifle to me quickly and I am looking forward to shooting it.
    Great firearm related site

Easy to purchase. Easy to track. I received what I bought. Good experience.
Found what I wanted, purchased it, received it as advertised.

  14. Westy68

Devastating on coyotes. This really puts the smack down on them.

  15. Matt

6.5 Ruger PR, had too many coyotes running off not getting enough expansion on them using the 129 gn SST. Stepped down to the 95gn and the last 3 were DRT. They work for me and my equipment!

  16. Chuck

Using these rounds in my Ruger Hawkeye Long-Range Target Rifle in 6.5 mm Creedmoor (26″ barrel, 1:8 twist), I get the best group size consistency of the five different ammo brands/bullet weights I’ve trialed so far. Based on 30 rounds, my chronometer indicates an average muzzle velocity of 2675 fps with a standard deviation of 23. My particular rifle “likes” the 140 grain bullet mass and the bullet design of this round. Hornady Match ammo delivers consistently good results. Your rifle might “prefer” a different bullet mass and velocity, so also try the 120 & 129 grain Hornady Match or Superformance ammo if you are still seeking what ammo your rifle “likes” best.

Best ever place to purchase ammunitions…
Best ever place to purchase firearms and reloading equipment. I trust them

  18. Scott

Grouped 5 shots inside an inch at 100 yards. This was shot from a custom LR 308 platform with a 16 inch Christensen Arms barrel. Can’t wait to see what this does for the coyotes!!!

  19. Neville

Shoots ok out of my gas gun .7 to .5 over all for coyote hunting is a great bullet the 95gr really hits them hard DRT. I have shot coyotes from 20 yards to 500 with them.

  20. Gunter

My AR 10 6.5 will shoot 1/2inch group with the 120 ELDs but,1.25inch groups best with the 95 grain v max

  21. Daniael

Love the 95gr V-Max bullet for the 6.5 creedmoor! But the varmint express factory load did not group well at all through my Browning X-Bolt Hell’s Canyon although I have started loading the same bullet with 42gr IMR 4064 and wow now I’m getting 1/2″ groups So with that said I can’t use the varmint express in my gun but all barrels are different!

  22. David

This is very consistent, reliable, and accurate ammo…. It’s a pleasure to shoot.

  23. Roger

I bought these for my son who had a long range competition he wanted to shoot at his club. He swears by Hornady ELD and is the only ammo he uses at matches. Luckily, Midway had them in stock and the lowest price I could find.

  24. Bjorn SD

When I bought my Ruger RPR in 6.5, I was told by others that had them to buy these. They will shoot the best. I had to test though, so I ordered 6 different types of ammo, all “match” grade, 2 box’s each. The Hornady match ELD in 140 produced tiny, 5/16 5 shot holes followed by the Hornady ELD in 147. Other than Fiocci exacta nobody else was close. I have ran 615 rounds through the rifle to date, in all conditions and they have performed flawlessly at ranges to 500. Love this ammo!

  25. Jason Burn

If you want something rare or uncommon, or even not rare or uncommon, this is the place to go. My purchase went to my FFL, where the legal transfer took place. FFL coordination is seamless, and makes the transaction easy and foolproof
